CHILDREN’S SPRING MUSICAL – The First Action Heroes
Sunday, May 18, 2008 – 11:00 a.m.
The Cherub and Agapé choirs will present a magical experience about the power of God, on Sunday, May 18, 2008 during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. The musical, The First Action Heroes, tells the story of kids from Coral Gables Congregational Church arriving for their annual campout in Hero Park. Little do they know that lurking in the shadows are the Goliaths, a gang of bullies. While the kids are admiring the First Action Hero Comic Book, the Goliaths appear threatening to add graffiti to the pictures and insist the kids are on Goliath turf and must move their camp. The kids decide to pray for God’s help. As the kids curl up in their sleeping bags, a miracle occurs…the First Action Heroes from the Bible emerge from the comic book ready to lend a hand. The stories told about Jesus, David, Esther, Joseph, and Joshua help the children to understand how God wants them to react to bullies like Goliaths. Come, join us, and meet The First Action Heroes! Meet Jesus! Your life will be changed forever!

Mystic Mondays
7:30 p.m. First, second, & third Mondays of each month
Are you interested in deepening your faith? Would you like to be a part of some smaller groups devoted to spiritual growth? Then Mystic Monday is for you!!! Join us as we explore faith through Taizé Worship, Knitting Prayer Shawls, and a study of Spirituality and the Arts. Childcare is provided.
On the first Monday of each month, a Taizé Service is held in Moye Chapel. This 40-minute service is modeled after the beautiful services that originated in Taizé, France, at an ecumenical, international community founded there in 1940. A Taizé Prayer Service consists of music, song, gospel readings, quiet meditation, and chants. If you are seeking time to be quietly apart, to pray and listen to God, and to be in the presence of a worshiping community, this service may be just what you are seeking. There is no ‘sermon’, no offering, no choir, no announcements – just simple worship.
The second Monday of each month, we will gather to create beautiful prayer shawls to share with those who are ill or grieving. You do not have to know how to knit – someone will teach you. Please bring a pair of size 11 or 13 knitting needles or M, N, or P crochet hooks if you prefer to crochet. If you are looking for a ministry of prayer and care for others this may be it. Come and help wrap someone in God’s love by creating a beautiful prayer shawl. The teapot will be on.
On the third Monday of each month, we are pleased to offer a course on Spirituality and the Arts as we look at film, music, photography, and art and their religious significance.
